Education:
  • M.Sc University of Calcutta, India
Joined IRIS:
  • January 2021
Bio:
  • Dr Siddhartha Banerjee is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Alabama, USA. His current research is focused on understanding the mechanism of amyloid aggregation which leads to fatal neurodegenerative diseases including Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease. He devises direct single molecule imaging and spectroscopic techniques including atomic force microcopy (AFM) combined with IR imaging to understand the key role of amyloid proteins in disease development.
Why IRIS?
  • My research interest is focused on addressing emerging bio-medical problems by applying single molecule imaging techniques. I found fascinating to see that Dr Ghosh started new project where IR imaging would be applied to understand the role of amyloid aggregates in the development of neurodegenerative diseases.
