Chemical Imaging with IR Spectroscopy
Microscopy lets us see structure and morphology in high resolution, but cannot tell us about chemistry. Infrared Spectroscopy can identify chemical species, such as proteins, lipids and many more through their characteristic vibrations. Combining Infrared Spectroscopy with microscopy lets us visualize the chemistry, and how it varies spatially, which is at the heart of how biological and functional materials work.
