Protein distributions in benign and cancer tissues
Chemical heterogeneities in cancer tissue

Cancer Diagnostics & BioAnalytical Imaging

Conventional spectroscopy only provides average chemical compositions of biomaterials. But it is the spatial distribution of constituent chemical species, such as proteins and lipids, that governs the properties of these biological systems. We can learn that from IR Imaging. Diagnostic imaging, such as looking at  cancer biopsies, does not utilize this chemical insight, and relies on human interpretation of tissue morphology. But we could do better by augmenting traditional diagnosis which a chemical map, and improve diagnostic capabilities
